Electrical Maintenance Engineer

  • Contract: Permanent

The role is part of the maintenance team. There will be a requirement to support the Mechanical Engineer as required. Team working is essential.

Reports to : General Production Manager

Job Type: Full-time (Monday-Thursday 7am-4:30pm & Friday 7am-3:30pm)

Salary: From £36,000.00 per year

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for electrical repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the site, this includes support and repair of mechanical breakdowns. The role will also require support at another site which may result in occasional travel.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety paperwork – risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and training records
  • Set up a Preventative Maintenance Program for sites, ensuring consistency across both.
  • Target minimising downtime and maximising uptime.
  • Responsible for upkeep and updating of legislative items eg PAT testing etc.
  • Create and maintain Job Logs and train other team members on the system.
  • Carry out monthly site inspections in relation to machinery, buildings and any other relevant items. This should be undertaken by the maintenance team, accompanied by Production Team Leader or Manager.
  • Source and control parts for the Maintenance department.
  • Create an equipment register, tools and spares available for both sites. Control and create parts and spares for electrical maintenance, keeping in line with company budget.
  • Use attention to detail and show initiative when completing tasks
  • Communicate daily with the General Production Manager to meet daily requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that paperwork is completed as per company policies and kept up to date.
  • With assistance from HR, recruit, train and mentor a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice.
  • This is a hands on role it is not a desk based role, desk work will need to be factored in as and when required through consultation with your manager.
  • This role will be reviewed through a cyclical appraisal process, initially at 3, 6 and 12 months
  • A 40 hour working week, flexibility is required regarding start and finish times due to the nature of the role and impact on lost production time.

Essential Qualifications;

  • IEE either 17th or 18th edition
